The "Ryū no Hōkō" katana stands out for its superior-quality T10 steel, worked with a finely layered hamon that underlines its finesse and strength. Every component is selected for its quality and authenticity, creating a sword of exceptional beauty and function.
Blade: The 71 cm blade, in T10 steel with hamon, is finished with care, reflecting the expertise of a master polisher. The polish brings out the complex structure of the hamon, while the 0.7 cm thickness gives a balanced combination of flexibility and strength.
Tsuba: The guard, in premium copper, is finely carved with traditional motifs, showing goldsmith-level work that reflects ancestral traditions.
Saya: The black lacquered wood scabbard is decorated with silver dragon motifs, giving an elegant and sophisticated finish, with carved and inlaid details that highlight the nobility and power of the dragon.
Tsuka: The 27 cm handle is covered in genuine black leather with a traditional wrap, giving a comfortable and durable grip. The copper menuki matching the tsuba and the bamboo mekugi keep the assembly solid.
With an overall length of 103 cm and a weight of 1.4 kg with the saya, the "Ryū no Hōkō" katana is an ideal choice for practice or as the centrepiece of a collection, harmoniously combining aesthetics and function.
*Silver-style finish; it is not real silver.
Buying a sword in the UK
Sold only to adults aged 18 and over. Curved swords with a blade of 50 cm or more are hand-forged using traditional methods, as required by the Criminal Justice Act 1988 (Offensive Weapons) Order as amended in 2008.
Carrying a bladed article in a public place without good reason is an offence. Transport your sword wrapped, and only for a legitimate purpose (dojo, re-enactment, collection). Rules may differ in Scotland.
Care
- Wipe the blade after every handling with a soft cloth; never touch it with bare fingers.
- Apply a thin film of oil every few weeks to prevent rust.
- Store it horizontally in its saya, edge up, away from damp.
- Use only on suitable practice targets (rolled tatami mats, bamboo); never strike hard objects.
