DESCRIPTION

The Kokuenmaru 黒炎丸 is the expression of controlled intensity — a katana made for those who understand that true power is silent. Its blackened copper tsuba, carved with a coiled dragon, protects the blade with majesty, while the imperial chrysanthemum crest engraved near the habaki recalls the dignity of Japan's imperial heritage.

Every detail, from the deep red hamon to the tight black silk wrap, evokes mastery and balance. The glossy black saya completes the whole with its mirror shine, a symbol of calm prevailing over chaos — the flame of the practitioner, hidden beneath the surface.

Buying a sword in the UK

Sold only to adults aged 18 and over. Curved swords with a blade of 50 cm or more are hand-forged using traditional methods, as required by the Criminal Justice Act 1988 (Offensive Weapons) Order as amended in 2008.

Carrying a bladed article in a public place without good reason is an offence. Transport your sword wrapped, and only for a legitimate purpose (dojo, re-enactment, collection). Rules may differ in Scotland.

Care

Wipe the blade after every handling with a soft cloth; never touch it with bare fingers.
Apply a thin film of oil every few weeks to prevent rust.
Store it horizontally in its saya, edge up, away from damp.
Use only on suitable practice targets (rolled tatami mats, bamboo); never strike hard objects.

Magnificent katana, the colour of the blade is exceptional. Just a shame it didn't arrive in a box, luckily it arrived intact.
