The Katana Hanami 花見 is one of the gentlest and most graceful blades in the collection. Its name, which means "flower viewing", the centuries-old Japanese tradition of admiring cherry blossoms in spring, is found in a snow-white saya scattered with pink sakura petals that seem to drift, paired with a pink-wrapped tsuka and an unsharpened T10 steel blade. This is a sword that carries the quiet beauty of a spring afternoon.

DESCRIPTION
The 花見 — Katana Hanami takes its name from the famous Japanese custom of hanami, gathering beneath cherry trees to watch the blossoms fall. A single glance at the saya explains the name: an immaculate snow-white lacquer is dusted with soft pink sakura petals that seem to drift across the scabbard, as if carried by a spring breeze. No two scabbards fall in exactly the same way.
The blade is forged in high-carbon T10 steel, then mirror polished to a clear, even finish. It combines precision and resilience, the qualities for which T10 is prized: an edge that bites cleanly and a spine that absorbs shocks. Behind its delicate appearance lies a blade made to cut.
The tsuka is wrapped in soft pink ito over genuine white ray skin (samegawa), completed by a matching sageo, while the iron fittings carry the sakura motif from the guard to the pommel. The result is a light, elegant koshirae with an unmistakably feminine spirit, without giving up the balance of a true katana.

Buying a sword in the UK
Sold only to adults aged 18 and over. Curved swords with a blade of 50 cm or more are hand-forged using traditional methods, as required by the Criminal Justice Act 1988 (Offensive Weapons) Order as amended in 2008.
Carrying a bladed article in a public place without good reason is an offence. Transport your sword wrapped, and only for a legitimate purpose (dojo, re-enactment, collection). Rules may differ in Scotland.
Care
- Wipe the blade after every handling with a soft cloth; never touch it with bare fingers.
- Apply a thin film of oil every few weeks to prevent rust.
- Store it horizontally in its saya, edge up, away from damp.
- Use only on suitable practice targets (rolled tatami mats, bamboo); never strike hard objects.
