Description and specifications
The Akai Oni samurai were elite troops chosen for their honour and heroism. They were led by the Taisho Akai Oni. These elite Gashira (officer samurai) helped to relay orders and led their Akai Oni Kachi samurai fearlessly, whatever the consequences. Their armour was painted crimson or vermilion to show their fierce spirit, which earned them the name "Akai Oni" (red demon ogre).
After winning many victories, the elite samurai of the Takeda clan gained in renown and in number. The clan is regarded as one of the most famous and powerful of feudal Japan. Ruling the province of Kai for 400 years, from the 12th to the 16th century, the Takeda were one of the most powerful families in Japanese feudal history. Their motto was "Loyalty and brotherhood" and their clan banner bore the words "fu rin ka zan" (wind, forest, fire, mountain), meaning "Swift as the wind, silent as the forest, fierce as fire and immovable as a mountain".
This samurai armour is handmade by master craftsmen. The armour is identical to the photo and comes with a black lacquered box and a display stand for the armour.
Each armour comes pre-fitted for a person between 1.60 m and 1.85 m tall of average build. The armour can be easily adjusted.

Sold only to adults aged 18 and over. Curved swords with a blade of 50 cm or more are hand-forged using traditional methods, as required by the Criminal Justice Act 1988 (Offensive Weapons) Order as amended in 2008.
Carrying a bladed article in a public place without good reason is an offence. Transport your sword wrapped, and only for a legitimate purpose (dojo, re-enactment, collection). Rules may differ in Scotland.
Care
- Wipe the blade after every handling with a soft cloth; never touch it with bare fingers.
- Apply a thin film of oil every few weeks to prevent rust.
