The Ketsueki 血液 katana, with its refined T10 steel blade and red lacquered saya, embodies passion and precision.
Blade (刀身): The refined T10 steel of the blade, known for its high carbon content, offers an excellent edge and increased wear resistance. The visible hamon and the mirror polish reflect meticulous forging and a careful hand finish.
Guard (Tsuba 鍔): The finely carved copper guard, adorned with gilt silver engraving, combines traditional aesthetics with function. Copper, supple and durable, protects the hand while complementing the blade with elegance.
Scabbard (Saya 鞘): The red lacquered wood of the saya, vibrant and bold, protects the blade robustly. The cotton sageo gives a comfortable texture for carrying and adds a traditional touch to the whole.
Handle (Tsuka 柄): The genuine white ray skin gives a firm grip and remarkable longevity. The flower-shaped menuki echo the tsuba, creating a harmonious link between the handle and the guard.
The Ketsueki 血液 katana is a work of art that captures the essence of the samurai, as striking as it is refined, made for those who value the art of Japanese forging and the history of bushido.
Buying a sword in the UK
Sold only to adults aged 18 and over. Curved swords with a blade of 50 cm or more are hand-forged using traditional methods, as required by the Criminal Justice Act 1988 (Offensive Weapons) Order as amended in 2008.
Carrying a bladed article in a public place without good reason is an offence. Transport your sword wrapped, and only for a legitimate purpose (dojo, re-enactment, collection). Rules may differ in Scotland.
Care
- Wipe the blade after every handling with a soft cloth; never touch it with bare fingers.
- Apply a thin film of oil every few weeks to prevent rust.
- Store it horizontally in its saya, edge up, away from damp.
- Use only on suitable practice targets (rolled tatami mats, bamboo); never strike hard objects.
