The Golden Seal Arming Sword is a compact one-handed medieval-style sword built around a single striking detail: a gold seal set into the flat of its faceted steel pommel, like a knight's personal seal. Everything else is deliberately understated (black leather, brown straps, brass buckles) so that the gold reads as a mark of authority rather than an ornament.
Blade: forged in 60Si2CrVA spring steel, the 73.3 cm (28.9 in) blade is exceptionally wide at 5.95 cm (2.34 in), with a deep central fuller that lightens it, and tapers gradually to a precise point.
Guard: a slim 304 stainless steel crossguard, gently curved downwards with polished bevels, frames the hand without weighing down the whole.
Scabbard: a wooden core wrapped in genuine cowhide leather, finished in black with an embossed saltire pattern, a polished steel chape and two brown leather suspension straps on brass buckles.
Handle: the 15.5 cm (6.1 in) grip is in genuine cowhide leather, hand-corded over a wooden core, sized for a firm one-handed hold, and topped with the faceted pommel and its gold seal.
Dimensions: at 97.2 cm (38.3 in) long and 1.85 kg (4.1 lb), the Golden Seal is short and dense, the kind of sword designed to be worn at the belt rather than held in two hands.

Buying a sword in the UK
Sold only to adults aged 18 and over. Curved swords with a blade of 50 cm or more are hand-forged using traditional methods, as required by the Criminal Justice Act 1988 (Offensive Weapons) Order as amended in 2008.
Carrying a bladed article in a public place without good reason is an offence. Transport your sword wrapped, and only for a legitimate purpose (dojo, re-enactment, collection). Rules may differ in Scotland.
Care
- Wipe the blade after every handling with a soft cloth; never touch it with bare fingers.
- Apply a thin film of oil every few weeks to prevent rust.
- Store it horizontally in its saya, edge up, away from damp.
- Use only on suitable practice targets (rolled tatami mats, bamboo); never strike hard objects.
