Description
The Kurotaka Katana represents the summit of traditional craftsmanship — elegant yet uncompromising. Its San-Mai steel construction combines a surgically precise edge with a shock-absorbing core, allowing the blade to keep all its accuracy with every cut.
Its refined ornaments are meticulously made in copper, enhanced with gold and silver inlays that shimmer against the black wrap of the tsuka. The tsuba, decorated with an undulating pattern, symbolises the wind and freedom — a tribute to the swift, decisive power of the Black Hawk.
Buying a sword in the UK
Sold only to adults aged 18 and over. Curved swords with a blade of 50 cm or more are hand-forged using traditional methods, as required by the Criminal Justice Act 1988 (Offensive Weapons) Order as amended in 2008.
Carrying a bladed article in a public place without good reason is an offence. Transport your sword wrapped, and only for a legitimate purpose (dojo, re-enactment, collection). Rules may differ in Scotland.
Care
- Wipe the blade after every handling with a soft cloth; never touch it with bare fingers.
- Apply a thin film of oil every few weeks to prevent rust.
- Store it horizontally in its saya, edge up, away from damp.
- Use only on suitable practice targets (rolled tatami mats, bamboo); never strike hard objects.
