DESCRIPTION
The Kintsurugi 金鶴刀 is a symbol of refinement and purity. Forged in the traditional SAN-MAI structure, a high-carbon steel core surrounded by layers of Damascus, it combines strength and flexibility. The natural saya contrasts elegantly with the golden handle, while the copper tsuba, decorated with crane engravings, adds a touch of nobility and grace.
Buying a sword in the UK
Sold only to adults aged 18 and over. Curved swords with a blade of 50 cm or more are hand-forged using traditional methods, as required by the Criminal Justice Act 1988 (Offensive Weapons) Order as amended in 2008.
Carrying a bladed article in a public place without good reason is an offence. Transport your sword wrapped, and only for a legitimate purpose (dojo, re-enactment, collection). Rules may differ in Scotland.
Care
- Wipe the blade after every handling with a soft cloth; never touch it with bare fingers.
- Apply a thin film of oil every few weeks to prevent rust.
- Store it horizontally in its saya, edge up, away from damp.
- Use only on suitable practice targets (rolled tatami mats, bamboo); never strike hard objects.
