DIMENSIONS

The Kaeru カエル katana is a remarkable artistic expression and a tribute to the individuality of the samurai.

Blade (刀身): Coated in a bright gold colour, the manganese steel blade offers a distinguished look and also a hardness able to resist wear and abrasion. The imitation hamon and the groove (bo-hi) add lightness and balance to the blade, while creating a distinct whistle as it moves through the air, a quality often appreciated for practice and demonstration.

Guard (Tsuba 鍔): The solid sculpted brass guard is a tribute to traditional craftsmanship, with every detail designed to express strength and elegance. Brass is recognised for its corrosion resistance and durability, making it an ideal material for a lasting guard.

Scabbard (Saya 鞘): The wooden scabbard is finished with a lacquer that not only protects the wood but also gives a smooth, scratch-resistant surface. The texture and design of the lacquer are meant to reflect the unique character of its owner, just as each samurai stood apart from his peers.

Handle (Tsuka 柄): Made of solid wood and covered with imitation rayskin, the handle provides a secure, comfortable grip. Although it is an imitation, the material has a texture similar to genuine rayskin, which is known for its improved grip.

Every component of the Kaeru カエル katana is meticulously chosen for its looks and performance, creating a piece that is not only a training instrument but also a work of art, reflecting individuality and distinction.
