The Jundo 純度 katana is a masterpiece combining beauty and craftsmanship, ideal for enthusiasts of Japanese culture and collectors.
Blade (刀身): T10 steel is chosen for its ability to be hardened to an optimal level, giving an excellent edge and a visible hamon, which testifies to the quality of the hardening and polishing. This grey blade is not only pleasing to the eye but also robust, making it a fine display piece.
Guard (Tsuba 鍔): The solid sculpted brass guard echoes traditional craftsmanship, bringing a touch of elegance with its detailed motifs. Brass is appreciated for its corrosion resistance and its weight, which balances the blade for better handling.
Scabbard (Saya 鞘): The lacquered wood scabbard protects the blade effectively and adds visual elegance with its glossy finish. The wood provides natural resistance to knocks, keeping the blade safe from outside elements.
Handle (Tsuka 柄): The solid wood core of the handle, covered in genuine rayskin, offers superior grip and increased durability. The rayskin, with its granular texture, gives a firm and secure hold, essential when using the katana.
Every aspect of the Jundo 純度 katana is designed with precise intent, combining function and form in a harmonious balance, making this piece ideal for beginners or as the centrepiece of a collection.
Buying a sword in the UK
Sold only to adults aged 18 and over. Curved swords with a blade of 50 cm or more are hand-forged using traditional methods, as required by the Criminal Justice Act 1988 (Offensive Weapons) Order as amended in 2008.
Carrying a bladed article in a public place without good reason is an offence. Transport your sword wrapped, and only for a legitimate purpose (dojo, re-enactment, collection). Rules may differ in Scotland.
Care
- Wipe the blade after every handling with a soft cloth; never touch it with bare fingers.
- Apply a thin film of oil every few weeks to prevent rust.
- Store it horizontally in its saya, edge up, away from damp.
- Use only on suitable practice targets (rolled tatami mats, bamboo); never strike hard objects.
