This katana stands out for its red blade, a bold choice that reflects a modern aesthetic while paying tribute to the traditional art of the Japanese sword.
Blade: The 71 cm (28.0 in) manganese steel blade has a vivid red tint, ensuring this katana stands out as a centrepiece in any collection or interior.
Tsuba: The guard is carefully carved in copper, with detailed motifs that add to the visual richness of the whole.
Saya: The solid wood scabbard shows sturdiness and durability while highlighting the natural elegance of the wood.
Tsuka: The lacquered magnolia wood handle, covered in ray-skin leather, offers a comfortable grip and a refined look.
Dimensions: With an overall length of 103 cm (40.6 in) and a blade thickness of 0.75 cm (0.3 in), this katana combines size and proportion harmoniously.
Buying a sword in the UK
Sold only to adults aged 18 and over. Curved swords with a blade of 50 cm or more are hand-forged using traditional methods, as required by the Criminal Justice Act 1988 (Offensive Weapons) Order as amended in 2008.
Carrying a bladed article in a public place without good reason is an offence. Transport your sword wrapped, and only for a legitimate purpose (dojo, re-enactment, collection). Rules may differ in Scotland.
Care
- Wipe the blade after every handling with a soft cloth; never touch it with bare fingers.
- Apply a thin film of oil every few weeks to prevent rust.
- Store it horizontally in its saya, edge up, away from damp.
- Use only on suitable practice targets (rolled tatami mats, bamboo); never strike hard objects.
