Description and specifications
The Byakko no Tanto, meaning "White Tiger Tanto", symbolises purity, precision and quiet strength. Its white handle contrasts strikingly with the deep red and black carved saya, creating an image of calm power and timeless dignity.
Forged in layered Damascus steel and fitted with detailed alloy ornaments, this tanto unites refinement and resilience. The wave patterns of the blade reflect the flow of water, while the engraved scabbard evokes fire – a balance of opposites in perfect harmony.

DESCRIPTION
The Byakko no Tanto embodies elegance and duality – serenity combined with quiet power. Its pure white tsuka symbolises discipline and clarity of mind, while the deep crimson engravings of the saya reflect passion and resolve. The Damascus blade, rippled with natural fold lines, completes this harmony of fire and frost.
This tanto is more than a blade – it is a work of art that links beauty and function. Whether displayed or held, it carries the spirit of the White Tiger: calm, loyal and unyielding.
Buying a sword in the UK
Sold only to adults aged 18 and over. Curved swords with a blade of 50 cm or more are hand-forged using traditional methods, as required by the Criminal Justice Act 1988 (Offensive Weapons) Order as amended in 2008.
Carrying a bladed article in a public place without good reason is an offence. Transport your sword wrapped, and only for a legitimate purpose (dojo, re-enactment, collection). Rules may differ in Scotland.
Care
- Wipe the blade after every handling with a soft cloth; never touch it with bare fingers.
- Apply a thin film of oil every few weeks to prevent rust.
- Store it horizontally in its saya, edge up, away from damp.
- Use only on suitable practice targets (rolled tatami mats, bamboo); never strike hard objects.
