This katana stands out for its superior Damascus steel, worked to bring out its fineness and strength. Each component is chosen for its quality and authenticity, creating a sword of exceptional beauty and function.
Blade: The 71 cm (28.0 in) Damascus steel blade is finished with care, reflecting the expertise of a master polisher. The complex structure of the Damascus steel is highlighted, while the 0.7 cm (0.3 in) thickness gives a good balance between flexibility and strength.
Tsuba: The premium copper guard is finely carved, showing goldsmith-level work that echoes intricate motifs and ancestral traditions.
Saya: The black-lacquered wood scabbard is decorated with gold dragon motifs, an elegant and sophisticated finish with carved details that highlight the nobility and power of the dragon.
Tsuka: The 27 cm (10.6 in) handle is covered in genuine black leather with traditional wrapping, for a comfortable and durable grip. The copper menuki matching the tsuba and the bamboo mekugi ensure a solid assembly.
With a total length of 103 cm (40.6 in) and a weight of 1.4 kg with the saya, this katana is an ideal choice for training or as the centrepiece of a collection, combining aesthetics and function.
Buying a sword in the UK
Sold only to adults aged 18 and over. Curved swords with a blade of 50 cm or more are hand-forged using traditional methods, as required by the Criminal Justice Act 1988 (Offensive Weapons) Order as amended in 2008.
Carrying a bladed article in a public place without good reason is an offence. Transport your sword wrapped, and only for a legitimate purpose (dojo, re-enactment, collection). Rules may differ in Scotland.
Care
- Wipe the blade after every handling with a soft cloth; never touch it with bare fingers.
- Apply a thin film of oil every few weeks to prevent rust.
- Store it horizontally in its saya, edge up, away from damp.
- Use only on suitable practice targets (rolled tatami mats, bamboo); never strike hard objects.
