The Hasunohana 蓮の花 Katana, meaning "lotus flower" in Japanese, is an exceptional piece that celebrates the art of the forge and the subtlety of traditional decoration. It is made for those who appreciate beauty in every detail and uncompromising quality.

Blade
The 72 cm (28.3 in) blade is forged in Damascus steel, known for its strength and beauty. It shows distinctive reddish reflections that catch the light and give the blade exceptional life and depth.

Guard (Tsuba 鍔)
The guard is in finely sculpted iron, decorated with motifs that evoke the delicacy and elegance of the lotus flower. It is not only a protective element; it is an artistic expression in its own right.

Scabbard (Saya 鞘)
The scabbard is a work of art in hand-sculpted copper. It bears traditional motifs that tell a story of nature and beauty, linking the katana to centuries of Japanese culture.

Handle (Tsuka 柄)
The handle is also in copper, continuing the theme of the scabbard. It is designed for a comfortable and secure grip, while its sculpted decoration completes the whole in a coherent and elegant way.

Buying a sword in the UK

Sold only to adults aged 18 and over. Curved swords with a blade of 50 cm or more are hand-forged using traditional methods, as required by the Criminal Justice Act 1988 (Offensive Weapons) Order as amended in 2008.

Carrying a bladed article in a public place without good reason is an offence. Transport your sword wrapped, and only for a legitimate purpose (dojo, re-enactment, collection). Rules may differ in Scotland.

Care

Wipe the blade after every handling with a soft cloth; never touch it with bare fingers.
Apply a thin film of oil every few weeks to prevent rust.
Store it horizontally in its saya, edge up, away from damp.
Use only on suitable practice targets (rolled tatami mats, bamboo); never strike hard objects.

Pretty katana, however I can't manage to remove the mekugi for disassembly. A shame.
