Blade: The grey Damascus steel blade with hamon reveals precision craftsmanship, with wave-like patterns that catch the light and draw the eye.
Tsuba: The guard is a striking example of metalwork, combining pure copper and carved gilded silver for a result that invites contemplation.
Saya: The lacquered magnolia wood scabbard has a smooth finish and a shine that highlight the detailed craftsmanship of this katana.
Tsuka: The handle, covered in ray skin leather, is designed for a pleasant grip, while its look and texture add to the visual experience.
Dimensions: With an overall length of 103 cm, a 72 cm blade and a total weight of 1.4 kg with the saya, this katana is as imposing as it is elegant.
Buying a sword in the UK
Sold only to adults aged 18 and over. Curved swords with a blade of 50 cm or more are hand-forged using traditional methods, as required by the Criminal Justice Act 1988 (Offensive Weapons) Order as amended in 2008.
Carrying a bladed article in a public place without good reason is an offence. Transport your sword wrapped, and only for a legitimate purpose (dojo, re-enactment, collection). Rules may differ in Scotland.
Care
- Wipe the blade after every handling with a soft cloth; never touch it with bare fingers.
- Apply a thin film of oil every few weeks to prevent rust.
- Store it horizontally in its saya, edge up, away from damp.
- Use only on suitable practice targets (rolled tatami mats, bamboo); never strike hard objects.
