This katana, with its Damascus steel blade, is a remarkable piece that evokes both the strength and the delicacy of the art of the Japanese sword. It brings together ancient art and contemporary craftsmanship.

Blade: Forged in Damascus steel, the 72 cm (28.3 in) blade shows distinctive wavy patterns, proof of its individuality and quality. Its width of 3.2 cm (1.3 in) and thickness of 0.7 cm (0.3 in) give it an imposing presence.

Tsuba: The guard is a masterpiece in sculpted copper, with motifs that reflect art and nature, adding an aesthetic and historical dimension to the katana.

Saya: The black, elegantly sculpted scabbard is made of lightweight lacquered wood. It protects the blade while adding a touch of sophistication with its delicate work and traditional motifs.

Tsuka: The handle, covered in genuine rayskin leather, gives a secure grip and a pleasant texture to the touch. The zinc alloy menuki and the two bamboo mekugi complete the whole, ensuring the durability and stability of the katana.

Measuring 103 cm (40.6 in) long with the saya and weighing 1.2 kg, this katana combines lightness and balance. Its size and weight are designed for good handling, whether for training or for admiring as a collector's piece.

Buying a sword in the UK

Sold only to adults aged 18 and over. Curved swords with a blade of 50 cm or more are hand-forged using traditional methods, as required by the Criminal Justice Act 1988 (Offensive Weapons) Order as amended in 2008.

Carrying a bladed article in a public place without good reason is an offence. Transport your sword wrapped, and only for a legitimate purpose (dojo, re-enactment, collection). Rules may differ in Scotland.

Care

Wipe the blade after every handling with a soft cloth; never touch it with bare fingers.
Apply a thin film of oil every few weeks to prevent rust.
Store it horizontally in its saya, edge up, away from damp.
Use only on suitable practice targets (rolled tatami mats, bamboo); never strike hard objects.
