Description and specifications
Akatsuki no Tachi, meaning "Tachi of the Dawn", is a regal masterpiece that embodies the splendour and refinement of traditional samurai elegance. Its radiant red handle, intricate gilded fittings and refined black samegawa saya call to mind the light of dawn rising at daybreak, a symbol of honour, renewal and victory.
Every element of this sword reflects a perfect balance between art and strength. The T10 blade, polished to reveal a crisp hamon, offers both visual brilliance and exceptional craftsmanship. The ornate copper fittings, sculpted with floral and lion motifs, give this tachi a majestic presence worthy of a noble samurai.
SPECIFICATIONS
| Blade | Forged in high-quality T10 steel with a distinct midare hamon (irregular wave pattern). The mirror polish of the blade and its refined grain show off the mastery of the heat treatment, combining flexibility and resilience. |
| Tsuba (hand guard) | Elaborate copper tsuba decorated with detailed engravings of the lion-dog (shishi) and flowers. Each motif is rendered in relief, representing protection, strength and noble grace. |
| Fittings | Complete set of solid copper fittings, including the fuchi, the kashira and the koiguchi, finished in antique gold. Each component is finely sculpted with matching motifs for visual harmony and durability. |
| Handle (tsuka) | Wooden core wrapped in bright red ito over black ray skin (samegawa). The texture gives an excellent grip and an aesthetic contrast, enhanced by gilded menuki beneath the wrap. |
| Scabbard (saya) | Black samegawa saya, hand polished, with copper and gold accents. The scabbard features intricate metal fittings depicting traditional motifs, completed by a white and red floral saya obi for an elegant ceremonial touch. |
| Overall length | 103 cm (40.55 in) |
| Blade length | 71 cm (27.95 in) |
| Handle length | 27 cm (10.63 in) |
| Blade width | 3.2 cm (1.26 in) |

DESCRIPTION
The Akatsuki no Tachi is a tribute to the refinement of high-ranking samurai. The combination of a bright red handle and a black samegawa saya creates a visual duality: strength and serenity, fire and night. Its T10 blade, with a perfectly defined hamon, shows the traditional mastery of the forge.
From its gold-engraved copper fittings to its hand-wrapped tsuka and lacquered saya, every detail reveals a devotion to both beauty and precision. The Akatsuki no Tachi is not simply a sword but a statement of elegance, courage and timeless Japanese craftsmanship.
