This katana, inspired by the "Reverse Blade" of Rurouni Kenshin, stands out for its superior T10 steel, worked with a finely layered hamon and a mirror-polish edge that highlights its fineness and strength. Each component is chosen for its quality and authenticity, creating a sword of exceptional beauty and function.
Blade: The 71 cm (28.0 in) blade, in T10 steel with hamon and mirror polish, is finished with care by a master polisher. The mirror polish brings out the complex structure of the hamon, while the thickness of 0.7 cm (0.3 in) gives a balance between flexibility and strength.
Tsuba: The premium copper guard is finely sculpted, a piece of goldsmith's work that echoes intricate patterns and ancestral traditions.
Saya: The lacquered wood scabbard, decorated with black and brown patterns, is hand-painted with abstract motifs, giving it a noble and distinctive look. The wooden kurigata reflects the use of high-quality traditional materials.
Tsuka: The 27 cm (10.6 in) handle is covered in genuine leather with traditional wrapping, offering a comfortable, durable grip. The copper menuki, matching the tsuba, and the bamboo mekugi keep the assembly secure.
With a total length of 103 cm (40.6 in) and a weight of 1.4 kg with the saya, this Rurouni Kenshin-inspired "Reverse Blade" katana suits training or serves as the centrepiece of a collection, combining aesthetics and function.
Buying a sword in the UK
Sold only to adults aged 18 and over. Curved swords with a blade of 50 cm or more are hand-forged using traditional methods, as required by the Criminal Justice Act 1988 (Offensive Weapons) Order as amended in 2008.
Carrying a bladed article in a public place without good reason is an offence. Transport your sword wrapped, and only for a legitimate purpose (dojo, re-enactment, collection). Rules may differ in Scotland.
Care
- Wipe the blade after every handling with a soft cloth; never touch it with bare fingers.
- Apply a thin film of oil every few weeks to prevent rust.
- Store it horizontally in its saya, edge up, away from damp.
- Use only on suitable practice targets (rolled tatami mats, bamboo); never strike hard objects.
