The Katana Kage 影 stands as a martial-arts work of art, its look as striking as its blade.

Blade (刀身): Made from manganese steel, the blackened blade offers exceptional durability and wear resistance, ideal for those who want longevity in their practice. Manganese steel is known for its toughness and durability.

Guard (Tsuba 鍔): The zinc alloy used for the Tsuba combines lightness and strength, allowing easy handling without sacrificing protection for the hand. The motifs of the guard are not merely decorative; they are emblematic of the values of strength and elegance.

Scabbard (Saya 鞘): Ebony wood offers natural resistance to the elements, which is essential for protecting the blade. The bull horn Kurigata adds not only a touch of exclusivity but also extra robustness to the scabbard.

Handle (Tsuka 柄): Genuine ray skin leather is highly valued for its granular texture, which ensures a firm grip. It is complemented by a zinc alloy Menuki set that balances the weight and improves handling.

With its two bamboo Mekugi, the Katana Kage 影 is designed to remain faithful to traditional assembly methods, allowing easy maintenance and adjustment.

This katana is a favoured choice for those who value precision and tradition, combined with an inspiring design that will impress both visually and to the touch.

Buying a sword in the UK

Sold only to adults aged 18 and over. Curved swords with a blade of 50 cm or more are hand-forged using traditional methods, as required by the Criminal Justice Act 1988 (Offensive Weapons) Order as amended in 2008.

Carrying a bladed article in a public place without good reason is an offence. Transport your sword wrapped, and only for a legitimate purpose (dojo, re-enactment, collection). Rules may differ in Scotland.

Care

Wipe the blade after every handling with a soft cloth; never touch it with bare fingers.
Apply a thin film of oil every few weeks to prevent rust.
Store it horizontally in its saya, edge up, away from damp.
Use only on suitable practice targets (rolled tatami mats, bamboo); never strike hard objects.

Very clean finishing, the katana is very beautiful. I haven't had the chance to do a thorough test of the sharpness, but from touching the blade it cuts without problems 👍 A few small issues with delivery, also additional customs fees, but that was a problem with the carrier FedEx.
