Blade (刀身): Hand-forged Damascus steel, known for its distinctive wavy patterns, is not only attractive; it results from the combination of different steels welded together, giving added resilience. The careful hand polishing accentuates the natural beauty of the Damascus patterns.
Guard (Tsuba 鍔): The guard is an artistic fusion of copper and brass, metals traditionally used for their malleability and corrosion resistance. The silvering and gilding add a touch of prestige and symbolism, with the dragon representing strength and wisdom.
Scabbard (Saya 鞘): The carved copper and brass of the Saya give a durability and weight that bear witness to the quality and solidity of the scabbard. The detailed carvings and the gilded dragon are a mark of authenticity and grandeur.
Handle (Tsuka 柄): Ray skin leather, prized for its durability and unique grip, wraps the handle, ensuring a firm hold and easy handling. This leather, combined with quality Japanese silk for the Sageo, reinforces the traditional aesthetic of the katana.
